FAQ

  • What are the advantages of stainless steel?
Stainless steel is a timeless and solid material. Due to its reputation for robustness and hygienic properties, stainless steel is no longer used only in the catering trade and laboratories, but has now also become the preferred material in private kitchens. Unlike coated brass, stainless steel is a solid material. This means that if sharp or hard objects were to damage the fitting, stainless steel would have not more than a dent in the material and no coating would peel off. Because stainless steel is solid, you can polish it to restore it. The antibacterial effect and feel of stainless steel gives every kitchen a professional appearance.
  • Which stainless steel is used for the fittings?
We only use AISI 316L and AISI 304 stainless steel for the stainless steel fittings, which is characterised by high corrosion resistance and durability. It is an environmentally friendly, lead-free material and is fully recyclable, as it does not undergo galvanic treatment such as brass.
  • Why do I need a new faucet?
Regardless of whether you opt for a separate drinking water tap or a 3-way faucet with a separate drinking water pipe, drinking water and service water should always be kept separate. This is the only way to enjoy the full quality and convenience of a drinking water filter.

Convenience: A water filter reduces the amount of water from approx. 5-10 liters per minute to approx. 4 liters per minute. The separate pipe for the filtered water means you can use the normal cold and hot water for rinsing as usual.

Hygiene: Our high-performance filters not only remove harmful substances, they are also bacteria and virus-proof. Hygienic separation from the normal service water is therefore important to ensure this safety and maintain hygiene in the filter housing.
  • In which case do I choose the separate fitting?
A separate faucet can be installed in any kitchen situation. Existing faucets, special functions, boilers etc. remain unaffected. With a T-piece, the entire installation of the filter system from the cold water angle valve is separated from the kitchen faucet. We recommend the separate faucet, should children live in the household or for offices and Kitas, because a new separate faucet is self-explanatory, a clear separation from the normal service water and can be cleaned well. Please note that a 14 mm diameter hole is required in the kitchen worktop. If you have a stone slab, drilling must be done by a kitchen builder or a stonemason.
  • In which case do I choose a 3-way valve?
The advantage of a 3-way fitting is that no additional hole has to be drilled and everything comes conveniently from one fitting. Your existing kitchen faucet is completely replaced. The character of a kitchen is also determined by the faucet. With our brushed stainless steel faucet you combine design and functionality. Our 3-way faucet has 2 separate guides and 2 separate mechanisms inside and thus provides the same hygienic separation as a separate faucet.
  • When do I choose the 3-way low-pressure fitting?
This special tap is exclusively for use with a low-pressure boiler. This special tap combines the design of a low-pressure tap with the functionality of a 3-way faucet for filtered water.
  • What is the diameter of the hole in the worktop?
For the separate tap you need a hole in the worktop of 14 mm diameter. Our 3 or 4-way faucet requires a standard hole of 35 mm, like all common kitchen faucets.
  • I have a low-pressure boiler and would like to use a different fitting?
A low-pressure boiler (LPHW) requires a special faucet to function. If you have an NDB, you can either choose the separate faucet and bypass the NDB or use our special low-pressure fittings. Alternatively, you can replace your NDB with an instantaneous water heater and use our normal 3-way faucets .

Is your NDB already old and are you no longer satisfied with its performance? Then choose our BUCCA system with the Quooker Combi Reservoir. Not only do you have boiling tea water at the touch of a button, the reservoir also supplies hot water. The Quooker systems are incomparably more hygienic than an NDB, as the water is stored at 110°C instead of 55°C. This means that the water is always sterile. This means that the boiler is always sterile. Quooker systems are also extremely economical and have class A energy efficiency.
  • Care instructions for stainless steel fittings
Under normal circumstances, stainless steel is largely resistant to corrosion and retains its elegant appearance for decades. In addition, the material automatically forms a protective passive layer on the surface, which constantly renews itself. This oxidation layer gives stainless steel its specific properties, prevents the removal of metal ions and reduces the risk of contamination.

To ensure that stainless steel retains its oxidation layer and properties, the faucet should be cleaned regularly. Only stainless steel cleaners may be used for this purpose, as the wrong cleaning products and the wrong steel wool or wire brushes can damage the protective layer of the stainless steel.

Note on extraneous rust Even if high-quality stainless steel is rustproof, rust may form on the surface and appear as if the stainless steel is rusting. This is known as extraneous rust or flash rust. Extraneous rust can be caused by iron particles from the environment, for example if drilling, milling or sawing is carried out in the vicinity. If such base metal comes into contact with the protective layer of stainless steel and is not removed, it starts to rust. If care is neglected, this can attack the protective layer of the faucet and rust through to the stainless steel. Ferrous water can also lead to extraneous rust. After tapping the water, a drop always remains on the spout, which evaporates and leaves fine iron particles behind. These then oxidize in the air and also cause the extraneous rust mentioned above. Regular maintenance helps to prevent extraneous rust.
